The Michael Webb Award is a continuing tribute to honor the memory of a member of Frankenmuth’s football past. Each year team members are asked to vote for a senior who best exemplifies the attributes of this continuing memorial.
Mike Webb was tragically killed in an auto accident in the early 1970’s. His parents along with former Head Coach Roger “Budd” Tompkins set up this memorial to honor a senior football athlete who has exhibited the criteria of this award.
Michael Webb loved football!! Although Mike was not blessed with above average talents or the ability to be a starter on his team, nonetheless, Mike channeled his intense desire to be a contributing team player always striving to make himself and his team better. Individual awards and distinctions were not part of Mikes’ personality: his personal satisfaction came from participating in the game of football and being a team player. |
